Syah & Jannah

We recently had the pleasure of styling the wedding
of a beautiful, classy, fun and gorgeous couple, Syah and Jannah.

For their intimate solemnization reception,
we strove to produce a sleek modern anglo-asiatic look
using only white, purple and green.

We studied the designated venue, and found, to our delight,
a simple and open function hall with beautiful french windows,
beautiful padded walls and sleek cornices.
Covering up the hall with too many props would shamefully conceal it's natural beauty.
So, typically Mariah & Sham, we worked our styling into the venue...
to hopefully elicit a look that is cosy, intimate and simple,
yet not simplistic and underdone.

To achieve this, we decided to use only minimal but quality props.
We used topiaries, tulips and orchids as flora.
These species are classy, sleek and luxuriant... able to carry their own weights.
In history, tulips for instance,
were seen as a symbol of abundance and indulgence in the Ottoman empire.
They are also often the subject of poems and romance
in many cultures spanning from Persia to France.
It is not difficult to fathom then, why they are exorbitant.
Exotic orchids, when used well, can be very classy and mesmerizing.
Topiaries, needless to say, are just simply gorgeous!

We used only fine tulle to dress the already gorgeous french windows.
This was matched with our own-made fresh topiaries and romantic fresh tulips.
Here, we used the elegant orchid - with it's sleek relenting branches and distinctive charming blooms - against a clean and pure backdrop of cream padded corniced walls.
The  lanterns were then deliberately placed to match the orchid buds.
The setup for a fresh and intimate reception.

For their solemnization, we worked on a slightly different look.
Still minimalistic, yet slightly more parisian....

Given Jannah's good taste,  her house walls are already beautifully panelled.
So we decided to leave the walls as they were...
instead we placed the value of our trademark photography isle
on a laduree-inspired personalised monogram keepsake.
As simple as the setup may look, a lot of careful thought was put into it.
We commissioned Haz Workz to produce the canvas monogram for us,
with the colours matching our soft-egg-blue vase,
our white furnishing and our classy gold standing lamp.
He did a marvelous job as usual.
And eventually, for their main dinner reception at the Furama City Centre Hotel,
we chose a modern classy botanical theme for them.
We had tall plants and more than fifty floral arrangements
placed throughout the contemporary looking grand ballroom...
although admittedly, only few pictures of our arrangements were taken,
given the lack of time.

At this juncture, we would like to thank
our good friend Alfee Mohd for his gorgeous photography.
We simply love his beautiful artistic angles....

A contemporay french-botanical isle flanked by personalised laduree-inspired monograms,
against a botanical backdrop of fresh flowers and giant pine trees.
We were so adamant on using our panels, we carried all 10ft of them up the stairs, five storeys high.
The heavy fountain and giant pine trees were something else altogether.
But no worries, dont feel bad for us.... we had fun doing it, given our fun and crazy crew. (Thanks guys!! :))

The Thank You card - which we produced in multi colours, to match our array of flora - placed on every guests's napkin
Embroidered monogram handkerchiefs we made for both bride and groom...for that personal touch, and of course, added details...

Finely picked fresh flora.
Lavender, hydrangeas, orchids, baby's breath, wild picks
and exorbitant blooms like tulips, amaryllis, bergenia, freesias and ranunculus just to show the least....

Thanks to Jannah & Syah and family, for their great trust and support.
We hope they have loved every moment of that special day....
And for the lovebirds, may they be blessed with a beautiful life together always. Amin.

And to our crew, a million thanks for all the fun,
laughter, dedication, focus and memories.
Now on to our next project ;)

New Friends

Recently we had the pleasure of meeting the awesome team at Papypress on their 2nd birthday bash. Simply love their creativity, enthusiasm, warmth and generosity. They've got great stuff going on over there, matched by an even greater team and an inspiring family biz history.

Glad to have made friends with like-minded people who are just as passionate about art and gorgeous bespoke stationeries as we are. Looking forward to working closely with them....

Loving this vintage 70yr old letterpress printer they've named Pinkie (or maybe this one's Blooey)

Event Styling

Last week's project was for a very special couple - Fahmy & Syikin- who bravely came to us more than a year ago, persuading us to style their wedding venue, despite us not having a prior wedding decor portfolio. We were close to refusing them, but their trust and determination got the better of us :) And not only did we find ourselves committing, we actually agreed to style both their separate venues! We got really dreamy and busy, but enjoyed all the hassle and drama cos both Fahmy and Syikin were so awesome to work with...every stylist's dream!
(Thanx guys, for the trust, patience and understanding. Suffice it to say, both of you were the impetus for our newest venture...and the inertia that pushed us beyond our old boundaries and comfort zones.)

So here's to the most awesome couple.
Sorry we couldnt take nicer proper pictures though.

First up will be Fahmy's Sleek and Classy Black & White
We conceptualized an overall style that would allow Fahmy's guests to feel transported into an atmosphere...one that would personify his classy yet humble style and his polished yet cool personality. Rather than over decorating this spacious void deck with senseless props, we worked around the existing infrastructure to create a meaningful style. The white walls and beams were incorporated into our design...we didnt get them all masked up with yards and yards of cheap cloths and props. We studied the space with which we were assigned to style, before suggesting a concept that would best bring out the space's natural beauty.
A Postcard for the lovely couple...
To add depth and texture to this all-white space and to complement the sleek white tulle curtains, mum designed and sewed the double tiered table lining, using only the most suitable material, to elicit that all-important flow. That's how detailed and exclusive we are. Even when there was a last minute request to add more tables, mum personally sewed more linings on-site. No one-size-fits-all lining for us please.
And we focused on fine details, gorgeous accents, high quality materials and the monogrammed backdrop to hopefully add class to the the black and white layout.

No flowers and plants were too plain or common.
Another Postcard for Fahmy & Syikin. Enjoy your honeymoon, guys! Warmly, Mariah & Sham and Team

For Syikin, we worked on a Chic Garden concept.
A marriage of sophistication, calmness, femininity and natural beauty, which we think personifies her
A gorgeous fountain and floral garden set against a romantic entrance of stoned columns, french doors, english panels and chic parisian monograms.
The guests area, all cosied up with beautiful bamboo pergolas, the finest dreamy white tulle curtains, high quality table linens, expensive ribbons, gorgeous chiavaris and feminine centrepieces.  Too bad our low quality mobile-camera-photos couldnt do justice to the real set-up.
We used the oddly located wall beams at Syikin's void deck to our advantage. We transformed the tight spaces into several cozy corners, accenting the areas with standing lamps, english curtains and english panels.

Loving our english panels and dreamy silk curtains
And to up the exclusive factor, we made them their own personalised monogrammed french door. We know we had spies taking pics of our monogrammed french door, among other things...so we're posting these pics up to save them the trouble :O If you're ever inspired, just be sure to give credit where it's due yea ;)
The romantic dinner table set against the garden isle and lush pine trees
More romantic and cozy corners....
And that's all for now.
Stay Beautiful, people :)

And the morning after....
We had our comfort food for breakfast, amidst all our props. Loving the beautiful mess and the gorgeous orchids we got from our team comrades, Isyam and Fadeli :)
Our biggest gratitude to our small but solid team!
Loved all the hassle, laughter, fun and unity.
To many more good times....
